php5-common software package provides Common files for packages built from the php5 source, you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install php5-common
php5-common is installed in your system.
Make ensure the php5-common package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep php5-common *
You will get with php5-common package name, version, architecture and description in a table
